Simchas Beis Hashoeva

100_1946 Once again continuing the Or David tradition the yeshiva hosted its annual Simchas Bais Ha’Shoava.
Unlike the “traditional” Simchas Bais Ha’Shoava’s around town being a men only event during the late hours of the night, we have taken the lead of making it 1) an afternoon event and 2) designed specifically for families; alumni and friends.
The excitement was running high as the Talmidim joined by alumni, danced their “hearts out” to the music of the world famous Menachem Herman Orchestra. There were “nay sayers” who said “dancing for four hours- no way!” but the spirit of Or David prevailed.
Friends and Alumni joined us “open mouthed” by the display of Achdus and Simcha displayed by our Talmidim. It could be felt in the air!
The afternoon spirit was elevated by the words of Harav Gamliel Rabinovitz shlit”a, a renowned Talmid Chacham and Mekubal who for years has been lending us encouragement and guidance. [A special thanks to Rabbi Notis for doing a difficult job of translating, well].
The Simchas Bais Ha’Shoava  was further enhanced by the exhibition of the juggling of burning torches by our talmid Shaya (Greenfield).
In the mean time on the other side of the mechitza a great time was being had by the wives and children.
Pekalach were given out to the children as they came by our very special candy man.
A moon bounce was set up for the kids’ fun and through the afternoon there was a special juggling show and balloons shaped for the children.
A special thank you to the talmidim, who rolled up their sleeves, making phone calls to the alumni, set up and of course clean up!
